Terms and Conditions
1. Scope
These Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) apply to all offers provided by MyCityGuides.ch.
2. Booking, registration and confirmation
Tours are booked via the online form or by email. The appointment is confirmed in writing by MyCityGuides.ch based on the request and availability, and is binding once confirmed.
We make every effort to find a guide even for short-notice bookings of just a few days, but cannot guarantee this in every case. If no tour is possible, the customer will be informed as quickly as possible.
3. Costs
Costs depend on the respective offer and are stated in the offer description on the website. The fee is invoiced after booking and must be paid before the tour. For short-notice bookings, payment is arranged individually with MyCityGuides.
Payment is generally made in Swiss francs (CHF). At explicit request, conversion into euros or US dollars is possible. Conversion is carried out at the exchange rate on the invoice date. Any transfer or conversion fees charged by banks or payment providers are borne by the paying party.
4. Cancellation and refunds
A booked offer must be cancelled in writing by email to MyCityGuides' contact address as soon as possible.
The following cancellation fees apply:
- Up to 14 days before the tour: full refund, minus a CHF 30 processing fee
- Up to 6 days before the tour: 50% refund
- 1–5 days before the tour: no refund
- No-show: no refund
5. Rebooking
Rebooking is possible up to one week before the scheduled appointment. A processing fee of CHF 20 is charged.
6. Group delays
If the group is delayed, your guide will wait for 30 minutes. Please notify MyCityGuides by phone if possible in case of a delay. In the event of a delay, the duration of the tour depends on the time available to the guide and the group. There is no right to the full duration of the booked tour in the event of a delay.
7. Special provisions for "Book a Local"
With the "Book a Local" offer, a person with local background and knowledge accompanies individuals or small groups for a duration agreed in advance. This is an individual guiding service. Any transport and consumption costs incurred during the agreed time are not included in the price. The guide for "Book a Local" is entitled to end the tour early if participants breach applicable law through their behaviour, or if the guide feels harassed by the behaviour of participants.
8. Force majeure
If a tour cannot be carried out, or can only be carried out to a limited extent, due to force majeure (e.g. natural events, epidemics/pandemics, official bans), MyCityGuides is entitled to adapt, postpone or cancel the tour.
In such cases, MyCityGuides will make an effort to find a solution reasonable for both parties (e.g. postponement, voucher). There is no claim to damages beyond what is legally required.
9. Privacy
MyCityGuides handles personal data in accordance with the requirements of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection. Information provided during booking is treated confidentially. Data is not shared with third parties and is used only for administrative purposes related to the booking.
10. Liability and insurance
No liability is accepted for theft or loss of participants' personal belongings during a tour.
The provider is liable for damages only in the case of intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty by the provider or persons commissioned by it, to the extent that a limitation of liability is not legally permitted. To the extent legally permitted, no liability is accepted for slight negligence, for indirect or consequential damages, or for damages caused by third parties.
11. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
Swiss law applies to all legal disputes in connection with offers covered by these Terms and Conditions. The place of jurisdiction is Basel.
